University of Hartford
Academic Tutor
I was referred to the university’s tutoring department during the fall semester of my junior year, and I quickly came to see it as both a rewarding opportunity and a practical one—reinforcing foundational concepts from earlier coursework while earning supplemental income. Initially, I worked primarily with students in core engineering and mechanical engineering courses. Over time, however, my role expanded to include tutoring for upper-level biomedical and civil engineering classes. This shift challenged me to approach shared principles from multiple disciplinary perspectives, deepening my own understanding in the process.
To ensure I delivered accurate and effective guidance, I regularly consulted with course professors and adapted my explanations to align with their expectations and teaching methods. Throughout my tenure, I logged and documented over 100 hours of tutoring, supporting a diverse range of students across several engineering fields.
